The court arrested Masha Hessen in absentia in the case of “fakes” about the Russian army

A court in Moscow arrested the American writer and journalist Masha Hessen for two months in absentia in a criminal case related to the so-called fakes about the Russian army. This was reported by the “Dozhd” TV channel with reference to the court ruling.
Hessen was also declared an international wanted man. Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia declared the journalist on the federal wanted list.
A criminal case against Hessen was initiated due to an interview with video blogger Yuriy Dudy. According to the investigation, Hessen disseminated “knowingly false information” about the actions of the Russian military in the Ukrainian city of Bucha.
“On the one hand, it’s funny: they know perfectly well where I am, and all this is some kind of stupid game. On the other hand, when you understand from your own virtual experience that for one sentence in an interview you can be arrested and sentenced to many years … On the one hand, we know people who have already been convicted of “fakes” in similar cases. On the other hand, it’s impossible to get used to it,” Hessen said in a comment for “Rain”.
