The court closed the process of extortion from Chemezov to the press and listeners

The Khamovniche court in Moscow closed the hearing of the case of extortion of 11 million rubles from the head of the Rostec state corporation Sergey Chemezov to the press and the audience. The state news agency TASS was informed about this in court.

Chemezov’s representative stated that considering the case in an open mode may lead to the disclosure of secrets due to the planned interrogations of Rostec top managers, the Telegram channel “Ostrozhno, Novosti” writes.

There are three defendants in the case. Kirill Sukhanov, former commercial director of Ksenia Sobchak, and Arian Romanovsky, former editor-in-chief of Tatler. They did not object to the closure of the process. The third accused – Life journalist Tamerlan Bigaev – insisted on public hearings. Bygaev’s lawyers claim that there are no secrets in the case.

• The case of Sergei Chemezov’s extortion was initiated in October of last year. The reason was the publication in the Telegram channel about secular life “Put out the light”. According to the investigation, the channel employees demanded 11 million rubles from Chemezov for deleting the record that he visited the birthday of billionaire Andrey Bokarev.
• At the end of last year, several criminal cases were opened in Russia about extortion from Rostec employees. In May, a court in Moscow sentenced three former administrators of Riddle and “Project SCANNER” telegram channels to eight years in prison each.
• “Rostec” is one of the largest state corporations in Russia and the main supplier of weapons for the Russian army. Since the beginning of the war, it began to produce Armata and Proryv tanks for the front.
• The head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, was a colleague of the Russian president on intelligence work in Dresden during the GDR.
