The St. Petersburg Garrison Military Court recovered almost 14 million rubles from a Russian soldier who crashed a military vehicle into a railway bridge. The Ministry of Defense of Russia filed a lawsuit against the military with a demand to compensate for the damage – the court satisfied it in full. This was reported by the joint press service of the city’s courts.
The commander of the anti-aircraft missile-artillery battery was also fined 50,000 rubles under the criminal article of negligent destruction or damage to military property. According to “Fontanka”, we are talking about the anti-aircraft missile complex “Pantsir-S”.
The incident occurred on the night of July 1, 2023. As the publication notes, the captain responsible for the car forgot to set up an autonomous optical post and could not pass under the railway bridge on the Pulkovo highway because of this.
According to the press service of the St. Petersburg courts, the court considered as mitigating circumstances the presence of a military minor child and a disabled mother, the defendant’s remorse, as well as the fact that he served in Syria and Africa, participated in the war in Ukraine.
