The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, said that today it was possible to find the entire amount necessary for the purchase of 800,000 units of ammunition for the Ukrainian army.

This became possible after the promise given by the Norwegian authorities. Another 18 countries joined Prague’s initiative, the TV channel reports with reference to Pavel ČT24.

Earlier on Thursday, as noted by Reuters, Norway announced that it would allocate up to 1.6 billion Norwegian kroner ($153 million) to the initiative. The message followed the promises given this week by the Federal Republic of Germany and France.

On February 17, at a press conference following the Munich Security Conference, Peter Pavel spoke about the plan to supply Ukraine with ammunition from third countries. At the same time, the Czech president reported that Prague had found shells for Ukraine abroad – 500,000 155-millimeter ammunition and 300,000 122-millimeter ammunition, which could be delivered within a few weeks if the project could be financed.

It is not specified in which countries the representatives of the Czech Republic found the shells. The publication Politico wrote that the negotiations were held, in particular, in South Korea, Turkey and South Africa.

Ukraine faces a shortage of ammunition due to its shortage and the delay in coordinating military aid from the United States and the European Union.
