The Vologda City Court arrested the oppositionist and editor-in-chief of Sota.Vision Evgeny Domozhirov in absentia for two years. Domozhirov himself announced this in his Telegram channel, posted a scan of the court ruling. In the resolution, he was found guilty of spreading “fakes” about the Russian army. The reason for the arrest in absentia was Domozhirov’s posts on the Internet about the torture and murder of Ukrainian citizens by the Russian military.
Domozhirov, who now lives abroad, called the judge’s decision “madness” and promised to “continue to commit new serious and especially serious crimes to discredit the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and Putin personally.”
Yevgeny Domozhirov is a former deputy of the legislative assembly of the Vologda region. In 2018, he became the coordinator of Alexei Navalny’s headquarters in Vologda.
Domozhirov is also the founder of the public movement “Together”, which conducted anti-corruption investigations in the Vologda region. In July, the Ministry of Justice suspended the activity of the movement, explaining it by the fact that the movement allegedly did not provide the department with documents on the expenditure of funds.
Earlier, Domozhirov was drawn up five protocols on the discrediting of the Russian army and one more – on the organization of an uncoordinated public action. After that, Domozhirov left Russia. Last October, he was declared wanted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
