Ilya Baburin, a resident of Novosibirsk, accused of attempting to arson military enlistment offices, was beaten by escorts on the way from the interrogation to the detention center where he is being held.
According to Baburin, in the official car, they knocked him to the ground and started jumping on him, at the same time hitting him with his hands. The victim claims that one of the escorts told him: “It will be even tougher.”
Last September, the FSB administration in the Novosibirsk region reported the arrest of a local resident who was allegedly looking for executors to commit arson handed over to military commissariats. As a result, a criminal case was opened against Ilya Baburin on three counts: aiding terrorist activity, involvement in terrorist activity, and attempted treason.
The accused was sent to pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Novosibirsk, where, according to the data of the human rights project “Solidarity Zone”, he was released. In particular, Baburin was placed in a special cell for suicidal prisoners, was not allowed to use the toilet, and was twice sent to solitary confinement.
As “Solidarity Zone” noted, Baburin opposes the war in Ukraine. At the same time, he denies the charges brought against him.
