The EU will provide Ukraine with the first billion for reconstruction after the war

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in Kyiv announced the allocation of the first billion euros for the reconstruction of the war-ravaged Russia against Ukraine in accordance with the “Quick Recovery” plan. She said this at a press conference following the Ukraine-EU summit, European Truth reports.

“Helping now to repair the damage caused by Putin’s bombs to the energy infrastructure is one part. But the restoration of houses, roads, infrastructure, schools, hospitals is a daily job that needs to be done. That’s why it’s so important that we start “Quick Recovery” immediately. It is embedded in a larger recovery process. I am glad that we can announce that the first billion will be provided to the Rapid Recovery… So that the work can start immediately,” she said.
The day before, Prime Minister Denys Shmygal informed the EU that Ukraine’s losses from the aggression of the Russian Federation could reach 750 billion euros.

Meanwhile, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, called on the capitals of the EU countries to accelerate negotiations on the use of confiscated assets of the Russian central bank in the amount of $300 billion for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
