The European Commission is ready to provide proposals on how frozen Russian assets can be used in the interests of Ukraine.

This was announced by the spokesman of the European Commission, Christian Wiegand, reports Ukrinform.

“We are ready to submit a legal proposal taking into account the current discussions on this issue,” Vigard said.

The official reminded that this issue was discussed by the leaders of EU states and governments at the last meeting of the European Council at the end of June.

“We are working with the Spanish presidency on a step-by-step approach and we support these discussions. We also sent a relevant document to the Spanish presidency at the end of July,” Wigard said.

According to him, the European Commission is ready to provide “a detailed proposal, taking into account the discussions with the member states.”
