The ex-deputy who hit the child received 10 months of correctional labor

In the Novosibirsk region, the court sentenced former district deputy from “United Russia” Sergei Mamontov to ten months of correctional labor, who hit a six-year-old child and left the victim at the scene of the accident. According to the prosecutor’s office, the court also ordered Mamontov to pay 15% of his salary to the state.
Mamontov was found guilty under the article of leaving in danger. The defense asked the court to impose a fine, the state prosecution insisted on correctional works.
Earlier, the Magistrate’s Court closed the Mamontov case, as the parties came to a reconciliation. However, the prosecutor’s office appealed this decision, and the case was re-examined.
- On the evening of October 30 in Tatarsk, 67-year-old deputy from the “United Russia” party Sergey Mamontov hit a 6-year-old boy and drove away. Judging by the video published by mass media, the deputy literally ran over the boy. After the accident, Mamontov approached the victim, shrugged his shoulders, and then got back into the car and drove away. The child was later hospitalized in intensive care with multiple injuries.
- After the accident, Mamontov refused the deputy’s mandate, and the leadership of “United Russia” expelled him from the party. Mamontov was arrested for 11 days in an administrative case, and his driver’s license was suspended for one and a half years. He paid one million rubles to the victim’s family.
