The founder of “Tsargrad” Malofeev bought a sanatorium near Yalta for 500 million rubles

The founder of the Tsargrad TV channel, businessman Konstantin Malofeev, who actively supports Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, owns a famous sanatorium in the annexed Crimea, is confirmed in the investigation of the Sistema project.

According to the investigators, we are talking about one of the most famous and prestigious Crimean sanatoriums – “Livadiya” near Yalta, which is located near the Livadiya Palace. After the annexation of Crimea, it was under the control of the Russian authorities, and recently it was closed. Malofeev bought it in 2018 for 500 million rubles, and according to Sistema, the transaction was financed by the Cypriot offshore Fliotis Projects through its Russian daughter LLC Cassiopeia. This company, in turn, provided a loan to Tsargrad LLC.

As the investigators note, the formal owner of the sanatorium was businessman Leonid Gavrilov, who, together with Malofeev, participated in the launch of Tsargrad. He is also known as a consultant in the popular Russian television show “Battle of Psychics” and as an “expert” in programs on the “Ren TV” channel. It is Gavrilov, as stated in the Sistema investigation, who is the beneficiary of the Cypriot offshore company.

• Konstantin Malofeev has been under US and EU sanctions since 2014. He was accused of financing separatists in eastern Ukraine and Crimea. In this regard, the businessman’s assets in the amount of 5.4 million dollars were frozen in the USA. In May of this year, the country’s Attorney General Merrick Garland authorized the transfer of these funds to the needs of Ukraine.
• In the spring of 2023, the FSB of Russia announced that it had prevented an attempt on Malofeev in Moscow. As one of its organizers, the special service named the commander of the “Russian Volunteer Corps”, fighting on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Denys Nikitin (Kapustin). The FSB statement said that “the terrorist act was planned to be carried out by detonating an improvised explosive device attached to the businessman’s car.” Commentators drew attention to a number of oddities in the materials published by the FSB.
