The government announced a decision to unblock the largest checkpoint with Poland

The Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure reported finding a solution to unblock the “Yagodin-Dorogusk” point.

The ministry announced this on its Facebook page, “European Truth” writes.

The Ministry decided to temporarily suspend the requirement for permits for Polish carriers carrying out transportation to Ukraine from any country of the European Union.

This decision is intended to resolve the situation with the blocking of the Yagodin-Dorogusk checkpoint by Polish carriers and to satisfy one of the key demands of the strikers, namely, the imposition of fines for the lack of permits for transportation to Ukraine from third EU countries.

“Our position is unequivocal: such transportation does not fall under the Agreement between Ukraine and the EU on cargo transportation and is not bilateral, and accordingly requires the presence of permits. We have currently sent a letter to the European Commission for clarification, and for the time being we are suspending the imposition of fines.

I would like to emphasize separately: since the beginning of this year, Ukrtransbezpeka has made only 4 such resolutions against Polish carriers,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine, Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure.

Thus, from May 8, Polish carriers will be able to carry out transportation from any country of the European Union to Ukraine without appropriate permits and requirements for environmental standards of vehicles.

According to Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach, now more than 5,000 trucks cannot cross the largest checkpoint on the border with Poland.

“It is impossible to distribute the cargo flow in the conditions of limited capacity and the blockade of sea ports. We are grateful to our Polish friends for their constant support in the confrontation with the aggressor and we count on further dialogue to unblock the border. We have taken the first step, we are waiting for the next step,” emphasized Derkach.

The Ministry reminded that according to the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on cargo transportation, bilateral and transit transportation are not subject to the requirement of obtaining permits.

Last week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine sent a note to Polish colleagues in connection with the protest action of Polish carriers, who blocked the movement of trucks through the largest checkpoint “Dorogusk-Yagodin” since May 4.

“Yagodin – Dorogusk” was also blocked by Polish drivers in September of last year due to the fact that, as a result of facilitating the passage of Ukrainian carriers from the Polish side, queues formed. Checkpoint in April threatened to block Polish farmers against the grain crisis.
