The government wants to see large retailers in tenders to supply the army with products


Representatives of the government and the President’s Office want to see large retailers at the tenders of the Ministry of Defense for the procurement of food for the army – business says it is interested.

She reported about it press service Cabinet of Ministers based on the results of the meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Economy, OP and the largest trade networks.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the state of the food retail industry and the possibilities of supplying the Armed Forces with food. In particular, Yuliya Svyridenko, the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy, offered trade networks to participate in tenders of the Ministry of Defense.

“The state is interested in large retail chains participating in the supply of food for the army. Currently, companies that purchase products from large retail chains are engaged in the supply of food,” said Svyridenko. Since these goods are already in the assortment of retailers, it will be necessary to solve the issue of logistics.

According to Deputy Minister of Economy Nadia Bigun, the amount of food supply for the Armed Forces is approximately UAH 42-43 billion annually. Therefore, the government wants to attract new players to this market to increase competition.

For their part, retail representatives agreed that for them this is an interesting proposal that “needs further detailed processing.”
