The head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia submitted the powers of the shajin lama
The head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia and the official representative of the XIV Dalai Lama in Russia, Mongolia and the CIS countries Thelo Tulku Rinpoche (Erdny-Basan Ombadykov) announced the appointment of the plenipotentiary shajin lama.
The message says that he made such a decision due to inclusion in the register of foreign agents.
“In the current situation, I consider it expedient to transfer all powers related to the post of Shajin-lama of the Republic of Kalmykia to the current abbot of the Centralized Religious Organization of the Kalmyk Central Buddhist Monastery “Geden Sheddup Choi Korling” Geshe Tendzin Choidak (Mutul Ovyanov) and Gelong administrator Yonten Loda (Sergei Kyryshov )”, the publication said.
The Ministry of Justice of Russia included Thelo Tulka Rinpoche in the register of foreign agents on January 27. Last October, he condemned the war in Ukraine and declared that the Ukrainian side was in the right. The lama called the war “great suffering” and declared that it was unnecessary.
Thelo Tulku Rinpoche has been the supreme lama of Kalmykia since the early 1990s. Lama went to Mongolia after the arrest of American basketball player Brittna Greiner. He is also a US citizen and, according to him, did not want to risk staying in Russia.
