The head of the trade union “Kurier” Kirill Ukraintsev was released after the sentence

The head of the trade union “Kurier” Kirill Ukraintsev, who was accused under the so-called “Dadinsky” article of the Criminal Code – about repeatedly violating the rules of holding a rally – was released from custody in the courtroom after the sentence handed down on Thursday by the Serhiyevo-Posad city court of the Moscow region. This was reported by human rights activist Pavel Chikov.

As Chikov writes in the Telegram channel, Ukraintsev was found guilty and sentenced to 1 year and 4 months of imprisonment in a settlement colony. The prosecutor asked for a year and a half. Ukraintsev, who spent more than nine months in pre-trial detention center, was released, since one day in pre-trial detention center counts as two years in the settlement colony.

Kirill Ukraintsev was detained on April 26, 2022. Several posts about the protest actions of couriers became the reason for initiating a case against him. In particular, on April 25, about thirty protestors came to the Delivery Club office, speaking out against the lowering of wages. More than ten people were then detained.

The “Dadinskaya” article received its unofficial name after the activist Ildar Dadin, the first convicted under it. Several people were previously sentenced to real terms of imprisonment for this article.
