The Mi-8 helicopter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which stopped communicating on the evening of February 4, crashed, its wreckage was found in Lake Onega. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the violation of the rules of traffic safety and air transport operation.
The board of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia with three crew members made a training flight. On February 4, he disappeared from radars near Lake Onega. The wreckage was found on the morning of February 5, 11 km from the coast at a depth of 50 meters. The Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that the helicopter was operated by an experienced crew with thousands of flight hours.
The governor of Karelia, Artur Parfenchikov, reported that the plane crashed in the waters of Lake Onega, 10 km from the village of Derevyannoe, Prionezh region of the republic. On board were employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations – Vladimir Evseev, Sergey Nosov and Vladimir Bilida. Their bodies have not yet been found.
Crew error, bad weather conditions, and technical malfunction are considered as versions of the incident. According to the IC, the crew did not report any technical problems during the flight.
