The long list of the 2023 “Prosvetitel” award has been announced

The organizers of the “Prosvetitel” award announced a long list of books in Russian, which this year will compete for the title of the best non-fiction book.
The committee selected 20 books. Their full list can be viewed on the award website. A total of 130 books from 62 publishing houses were nominated for the prize.
A jury chaired by the writer and publicist Alexander Arkhangelsky will form a short list and evaluate the books. It will also include folklorist and social anthropologist Aleksandra Arkhipova, publisher of “N+1” Andrey Konyaev, senior researcher of the Educational and Scientific Center for Visual Studies of the Middle Ages and Modern Times of the Russian State University Mikhail Maizuls, astrophysicist and professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Popov, doctor of biological sciences and postdoc at the University of Southern Denmark, Olga Filatova.
The organizers announce that a short list of books will be selected no later than September 30, 2023.
- The “Prosvetitel” award was established in 2008 by the founder and honorary president of the company “Vympelkom” Dmytro Zimin and the “Dynasty” Non-Commercial Program Fund. Since 2016, it has been held with the support of the Zimin Foundation. The purpose of the award is to support Russian-speaking scientists and scientific journalists who are able, as noted on the award’s website, to “simply and engagingly tell about the latest discoveries and research.”
