The Ministry of Defense of Russia decided to arm and supply volunteers

The Ministry of Defense of Russia will provide volunteer formations with weapons, military equipment, material and technical means, as well as things, food and medical assistance. This follows from the draft order of the Ministry of Defense.
According to the document, volunteers will be armed “in the order established for military formations of the Armed Forces of Russia.” The material assets of the volunteers will be provided by the military unit to which they are attached. For the material damage caused to the state through their fault, the volunteers will be held accountable as soldiers.
According to the draft order, volunteers will be able to receive medical assistance, including the manufacture of dental prostheses from inexpensive materials, both in military medical organizations and outside them.
Arming and supplying volunteers “will not require the allocation of additional budget allocations from the federal budget,” says the explanatory note to the project.
Public discussion of the order will last until February 11 – any citizen of Russia registered on the portal can vote. So far, the project has one vote “against”.
- In November 2022, the volunteers were officially equated with contract servicemen: they and their families received the same benefits. Earlier, the Minister of Defense of Russia, Sergei Shoigu, reported that 13,000 people volunteered for the Russian army.
