The Ministry of Defense of Russia named the number of postponements from mobilization

The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that 834,224 residents of the country received the right to postpone mobilization for the war in Ukraine. The department claims that most of them are IT workers. This is reported by RBC.

The publication studied the materials of the Ministry of Defense “Army in numbers – 2023”. According to the data provided there, 30.7% of IT employees who received a deferment are a little more than 256 thousand people. 20.4% of those who received a deferment are employees of the banking system, 12.4% work in energy companies, 6.5% – in agriculture, 5.2% – media workers, 24.8% – represent other spheres of activity.

In the fall of 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the so-called partial mobilization for war with Ukraine. According to official data, about 300 thousand people were drafted. The decree on mobilization is still in effect.

In September 2023, the chairman of the State Duma defense committee, Andrey Kartapolov, said that there would be no rotation of those mobilized, which means that those called up for mobilization would also be required to remain in the zone of hostilities until their end. This gave rise to sharp criticism from many groups of relatives and friends of the mobilized, who regularly appeal to the authorities to return soldiers from the front.

In December, Putin declared that there was no need to conduct a second wave of mobilization. According to him, there are 244 thousand mobilized in the combat zone. Putin asserts that the flow of volunteers and contractors willing to take part in the invasion of Ukraine is not decreasing. The Russian president said that the plan to attract military personnel to the army was overfilled.
