The Ministry of Defense of Russia reported the capture of the village of Pobeda

Russian troops occupied the village of Pobeda in the Donetsk region, southwest of Maryinka. This was officially reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense on Thursday.

The Ukrainian military did not comment on the information. On its map, the Ukrainian OSINT project DeepState already the day before assigned Pobeda to the “red” zone – that is, the territory occupied by the Russian authorities. Battles for the village, where before the war lived a little more than 100 people, went on for several weeks, the Russian troops began the offensive after the capture of Maryinka at the end of last year.

During the fighting, the village, like many other settlements in Ukraine, was almost completely destroyed, according to pro-Russian sources photographs.

We are talking about an advance of only 1-2 kilometers, however, as noted by both Russian and Ukrainian commentators, in the event of a further advance of Russian troops in this direction, there may be a threat of bypassing Ugledar, an important defense hub in the Donetsk region, from the northeast.

Russian troops are trying to advance on other areas of the front as well, including near Kupyansk and west of Avdeevka, as well as “head-on” at Chasov Yar – a town west of Bakhmut – however, as the Ukrainian command claims, they have had no success.
