The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has published a draft order according to which Russians will have to notify diplomatic authorities of receiving documents authorizing residence in other countries.
We are talking about citizenship, a residence permit or “another document confirming the right to permanent residence” in a foreign state. According to the draft order, it is necessary to notify about the receipt of such a document within 60 days. To do this, it is necessary to appear in person at the consulate or embassy of Russia and submit the relevant documents.
In addition, Russians will also have to notify consulates about the loss of citizenship or residence permit.
The authors of the document proposed that the new notified order enter into force on October 26, 2023.
- Now, Russians must report obtaining a residence permit or permanent residence to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and only upon arrival in Russia. Untimely provision of such data is subject to a penalty of up to 400 hours of compulsory work or a fine of up to 200,000 rubles.
