In Russia, from June 1, applications for biometric passports valid for ten years will resume. This was reported to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The announced portal “Gosuslugy” announced the suspension of reception on February 2. Goznak explained this as “increased demand” for foreign passports and, consequently, for chips for them.
In 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia issued about five and a half million foreign passports, which is one and a half million more than a year earlier.
