The Ministry of Transport of Russia has warned about a possible increase in the cost of tickets for domestic flights by 15-30% due to the decrease in subsidization of transportation in the summer season of 2023. This was reported by the deputy head of the department, Igor Chalyk, Interfax reports.
According to the official, a decision has not yet been made on the allocation of subsidies by analogy with 2022, in which air carriers received 100 billion rubles from the budget.
Vladimir Poteshkin, head of Rosaviatsia, said that the reduction in state subsidies has already led to a reduction in the number of flights, including to hard-to-reach regions of Russia.
- The summer season in aviation runs from the end of March to the end of October. Last year, airlines received 100 billion rubles from the state to cover the costs of domestic transportation during this period. The money was allocated against the background of sanctions imposed after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine.
- In early April 2023, the Association of Air Transport Operators appealed to the Ministry of Transport with a proposal to extend subsidies to air carriers for the next summer season. The carriers asked for 100 billion rubles.
