The Moscow City Court sentenced the former counselor of the Russian Embassy in France, Ihor Kondratskyi, to 18 years in a strict regime colony and the deprivation of the military rank of colonel on charges of treason, Mediazona reports.
According to the verdict, the Russian diplomat gave the representative of a foreign state information constituting a state secret. It is not specified to which country Kondratskyi gave the information. The Moscow Times wrote that Kondratsky is a native of Kyiv.
He worked as an advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia from 1992 to 2010, and also received “income from the Carnegie Foundation for International Peace,” writes the Moscow Times. “Mediazona” discovered that Kondratsky studied the topic of nuclear weapons in South Asia.
