The National Bank carries out a number of initiatives aimed at economical and rational use of energy resources in the institution.

“The National Bank of Ukraine is implementing an energy management system,” the message reads.
Currently, the National Bank already has:
- phased conversion of the lighting systems of the office premises of the NBU central apparatus and common areas to modern energy-saving LED lighting is being carried out. So far, about 40% of the lamps have been replaced;
- lighting systems with automatic activation from motion and light sensors are already partially used in the premises of the central office of the National Bank;
- in order to save water, the gradual replacement of water taps with automated ones with motion sensors is being implemented;
- during the modernization of air conditioning systems, energy-saving inverter air conditioners are used;
- employees are informed about the need for economical consumption of energy resources.
In addition, during 2023-2024, it is also expected:
- constant monitoring of the consumption of energy resources in the buildings of the central office of the National Bank of Ukraine in order to timely identify violations and take measures to normalize consumption;
- calculation of CO2 emissions by stationary sources of emissions in accordance with the amount of raw materials consumed, as well as gradual replacement of equipment with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions.
“Thanks to the specially created management system of energy management, the National Bank plans to ensure more efficient use of energy resources and optimize energy costs in the near future. In this way, we support the strategic line of state policy on increasing energy conservation. Especially during a war, when an aggressor country causes extreme damage to the surrounding natural environment and the energy system,” said Yaroslav Matuzka, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine.
