The government of the Netherlands will prepare 18 F-16 fighters for the transfer to Ukraine. About this reported the Prime Minister of the country Mark Rutte in X social networks. He informed about the decision of the government of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in a telephone conversation.

Rutte called the transfer of the F-16 one of the most important parts of the agreement on military support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. However, Rütte noted, the preparations for the export permit must first be completed and a number of other criteria must be met, including personnel and infrastructure.

The prime minister also said that he was impressed by Ukraine’s success on the way to joining the European Union, and assured that the Netherlands would do everything possible to ensure that new agreements on the European integration of Ukraine were adopted at the meeting of the European Council in February next year.

On Friday, the Netherlands agreed on the first support package for Ukraine for 2024. The 102 million euro package includes humanitarian aid and payment of urgent expenses, as well as demining and restoration of energy networks damaged by shelling. In total, more than two billion euros have been allocated in the budget of the Netherlands in 2024 for the support of Ukraine – both military and humanitarian.
