The Nizhny Novgorod man accused of fakes was sent to compulsory treatment

In Moscow, the Second Western District Military Court ordered compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital for Nizhny Novgorod activist Alexey Onoshkin, who is accused of spreading fakes about the Russian army and calls for terrorism. Due to this, the criminal prosecution of the activist was terminated.
Criminal cases against Onoshkin were initiated in the summer of last year. The reason was his posts on social networks about the bombing of the theater building in Mariupol by Russian troops and several comments about the war in Ukraine to the messages of other users.
At first, the activist was placed under arrest in a pre-trial detention center, but in October he was transferred to a psychiatric hospital – according to the official version, due to the presence of a disease.
The human rights project “OVD-Info” notes that according to today’s court decision, Onoshkin will be placed in stricter detention conditions than the ones he was in before.
