The person accused of blowing up Prilepin’s car was given two months of arrest

Alexander Permyakov, accused of blowing up the car of the Russian writer and pro-war activist Zakhar Prilepin, was arrested for two months. Articles about the terrorist attack and the illegal transportation of explosives as part of the group were attributed to him.

According to the investigation, on May 6 in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Permyakov blew up a car in which Prilepin and his acquaintance were driving. “As a result of the incident, Prilepin received multiple injuries, his friend died,” writes the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia. The deceased was the activist’s bodyguard Oleksandr Shubyn, who fought with him in the same battalion during the war in Ukraine.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Russia stated that Permyakov, a native of the Donetsk region of Ukraine, had testified. In the video published by the department, he says that he was recruited by the Ukrainian special services and arrived in Russia in 2022 to kill Prilepin. It was also reported that the suspect recently received Russian citizenship.

Prilepin, who was hospitalized from the scene of the accident by helicopter, later wrote: “I lost consciousness for three minutes, woke up and crawled to the broken windshield. The villagers who ran up helped me get out. Both of my legs are broken and there is still something.”

The Russian investigation accused the Ukrainian special services of the attempt, they essentially did not comment on their possible involvement in the explosion.
