The General Prosecutor’s Office appealed to the Chelyabinsk court with a claim for the nationalization of the shares of the largest producer of macaroni products in Russia, the Makfa company. “Kommersant” writes about it.

The General Prosecutor’s Office believes that “Makfa” and a number of other enterprises, including “Smak” and “Chelyabinskoblgaz”, have a corrupt origin, since their beneficiaries – the former governor of the Chelyabinsk region Mikhail Yurevych and the former deputy of the State Duma Vadym Belousov – were engaged in business, being representatives of the authorities state power. Thus, they “violated the prohibitions and restrictions established by the anti-corruption legislation for many years,” the department believes.

From 2000 to 2005, Yurevych was a member of the State Duma, until 2010 he headed Chelyabinsk, and later until 2014 – Chelyabinsk region. Belousov was a deputy of three convocations of the State Duma from 2011 to 2023.

As the publication notes, by law they had to stop doing business, including refusing to participate in the management of commercial structures, and declare their assets. However, as established by the prosecutor’s inspection, they “actually” owned a group of commercial companies, information about them was not declared and was not transferred to control bodies.

After becoming a deputy, Yurevych, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, transferred the business to his parents and son, as well as to his friend and business partner Vadym Belousov.

Yurevych and Belousov had previously left Russia and were put on international wanted list in the case of bribes for patronizing road construction contractors in the Chelyabinsk region.

In August 2022, the Moscow City Court sentenced Belousov in absentia to 10 years in prison and a fine of 500 million rubles. In December 2023, the Supreme Court overturned the sentence.

According to “Novaya Gazeta Evropa” and “Transparency International – Russia”, during the two years of the war, 180 private companies in Russia came under state control. In 2023, the Russian authorities filed a record 27 claims for nationalization. In 2023-2024, the Russian authorities asked whether they successfully nationalized assets totaling more than one trillion rubles.
