Russian Minister of Transport Vitaly Saveliev said that as a result of the sanctions introduced against the aviation industry, the Russian Federation lost 76 passenger planes.

“We were suddenly caught off guard then by the decision to take away the planes. In total, we lost 76 passenger ships,” Saveliev said.
It is noted that sanctions against the Russian aviation industry were introduced after the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In particular, the USA and the EU banned the supply of aircraft and components to the Russian Federation, and also obliged lessors to return aircraft that had already been leased (their number, according to Bloomberg, was up to 40% of the Russian fleet).
In addition, foreign ships of Russian airlines were arrested abroad.
“As it became known on November 16, GTLK (the largest leasing company of the Russian Federation – EP) abandoned the plans announced in the summer to increase the leasing rates of 37 aircraft belonging to the subsidiary GTLK Europe by 30%. Most of these liners are operated by Aeroflot and Russia. as well as S7, Aurora and Yamal. According to Kommersant, a compromise was reached thanks to the intervention of the Ministry of Transport,” the report says.
