The Samara regional court left the singer Charlotte under arrest

The Samara Regional Court rejected the appeal for the arrest of singer Eduard Charlotte at a meeting on January 10. This is reported by 63.RU.

At the beginning of December, the district court in Samara sent the artist to a pre-trial detention center on charges of rehabilitating Nazism and insulting the feelings of believers. He faces up to six years in prison.

The reason for initiating a criminal case was the video that the musician published on Instagram. On one of them, he burned a Russian passport and appealed to the authorities of Ukraine, saying that he was against the war and wanted to get to Kyiv. He also tears off the St. George’s ribbon laid out in the shape of the letter Z and nails his military ticket together with the portrait of the patriarch to the cross.

Charlotte, who was present at the meeting via video link, addressed the court with a speech. He asked for forgiveness from President Vladimir Putin, the singer Shaman, the head of the League of Safe Internet Ekaterina Myzulyna, the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, and everyone whom he “casually insulted”. “One and a half months in prison cooled my spirit. I am ready to accept punishment in the name of justice. I am ashamed of what I have done, I will not hesitate to apologize,” Charlotte said at the court session.

The singer also addressed Patriarch Kirill, calling him “the icon of the church.”

Earlier, Charlotte wrote a repentant letter to the patriarch from the pre-trial detention center. According to Baza, the musician stated in the letter that he is ready to atone for his guilt, “is actively writing patriotic works and is ready to perform with them afterwards.”

Speaking in court, Charlotte also noted that he was “intoxicated by American propaganda.” Earlier, he already asked for forgiveness from the Russian people and declared that he fell under the influence of the Russian opposition, which “very densely and scrupulously processes the consciousness of young people.”

She asked to evaluate “the actions of the blogger Charlotte, who publicly discredited the Russian army, offended the feelings of believers and intentionally burned the passport of a Russian citizen.”
• On November 22, Charlotte was detained at the Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg after arriving from Armenia. The court sentenced him to 13 days of administrative arrest on the charge of petty hooliganism.
• Three criminal cases have been initiated against the musician.
• On December 2, the court in Samara arrested Charlotte until January 24 on charges of rehabilitating Nazism and insulting the feelings of believers.
