The SBI caught four police officers poaching during working hours


The DBR employees reported the suspicion to four law enforcement officers from Kirovohrad Oblast, who caught fish illegally while patrolling the water area of ​​the Kremenchug Reservoir.

The head of one of the branches of the law enforcement agency in the Kirovohrad region, as well as three of his subordinates, were caught poaching.

“Under the guise of raids on poachers, they independently caught fish with nets, which were later sold through wholesalers,” the SDB notes.

The extras used a company car and a boat, which was kept as physical evidence in one of the criminal proceedings. The law enforcement officers also took poaching fishing nets found during patrols for illegal fishing.

The perpetrators were exposed during the next catch. According to preliminary estimates, they caught more than 200 thousand hryvnias worth of fish on the day of the “raid” alone.

The organizer of the scheme and three of his subordinates were informed of the suspicion of illegal fishing, abuse of power, committed by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy (Part 3 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, Part 3 of Article 27, Part 2, Part 1 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the articles provides for punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term of up to 5 years.
