The detainee is a 36-year-old resident of Petrozavodsk. According to SHOT telegram channel, his name is Igor Berdov. He is the head of the sales department of one of the city companies. In 2017, Berdov was sentenced to two and a half years in a fraud case, but in 2018 he was released on parole.
The attack on 41-year-old Drida took place on the night of August 25 on Zonalnaya street. The journalist appeared on the air for the Arabic edition of Al Jazeera. Berdov burst into the frame and demanded that she speak Russian, and then hit Drida in the right thigh.
In the hospital, the victim was diagnosed with a closed brain injury and concussion. A criminal case about beatings was initiated.
