The Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported on Saturday the arrest of the suspect in the murder of Roman Legoida, the father of Vladimir Legoida, the head of the press service of the Russian Orthodox Church.

A day earlier, Russian agencies reported that the body of 90-year-old Roman Legoida with multiple stab wounds was found on the side of the road in Leninsky District. According to 112 and Mash, Legoida was attacked during a daytime walk with her grandson.

“It has been preliminarily established that the suspect attacked the victim with the aim of seizing his money. After the murder, he stole 100,000 rubles from the pensioner, and left the body on the roadside near the Meshcherino-Churylkovo garden association,” the press service of the head of the Investigative Committee reported.

The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Iryna Volk, wrote on the Telegram channel that the suspect was detained “as soon as possible.”

The name of the suspect is not given. It is only said that he is 25 years old. The investigation claims that part of the stolen money was found during a search of the detainee’s rented apartment, and that he has already given an incriminating statement.
