The turnover of cash in bank cash registers decreased last year – NBU

In 2022, the volume of cash receipts in bank cash registers amounted to UAH 2,195.2 billion, which is 12.9% less than in 2021. This was reported to the NBU.

The National Bank emphasized that the reasons for this were the consequences of the military aggression of the Russian Federation — a decrease in economic activity, the destruction of infrastructure and the forced migration of Ukrainians abroad.
“The withdrawal of cash from bank cash desks last year amounted to UAH 2,281.8 billion and decreased by 11.8% compared to the previous year.
At the same time, there remained a stable structure of cash receipts and expenses from the cash desks of banks and collection companies for operations with clients,” the message says.

So, the top three most popular include cash-dispensing operations (% of total expenses):
- on customer transactions using payment cards — 83.1%;
- to support postal operators — 4.9%;
- for the purchase of foreign currency from clients — 3.8%.
The largest sources of cash receipts in bank cash registers were (% of total receipts):
- client operations using payment cards — 35.3%;
- trade revenue — 32.1%;
- revenue from all types of services — 15.8%.
