The United States announced on Friday additional sanctions related to limiting the price of Russian oil due to the large-scale invasion of the Russian army in Ukraine. New measures are introduced in relation to three companies and three oil tankers.

Two companies from the United Arab Emirates and one from Liberia, as well as their tankers, were added to the sanctioned list. They are accused of transporting Russian oil above the “price ceiling”.

“In introducing measures against these companies and their courts, we continue to adhere to the dual goal of price restrictions – to limit Russia’s oil revenues, while at the same time promoting stability in the world energy market,” the US Treasury said in a statement.

Earlier, the USA introduced similar restrictions against five legal entities registered in the UAE, as well as in Turkey.

  • In December of last year, the European Union and the G7 countries introduced the so-called price ceiling for Russian oil delivered by sea at the level of 60 dollars per barrel. Since February, prices for petroleum products have also been restricted: the “ceiling” for light petroleum products is $100 per barrel, for heavy petroleum products – $45 per barrel. Moscow, however, continues to actively sell its oil to countries that have not joined the sanctions.
