Thousands of cars were trapped in the snow on the “Don” highway

In the Rostov region, in four districts of which a state of emergency has been imposed since yesterday due to abnormal snowfall, 33 buses got stuck. There are 766 passengers in them. This is reported by the local publication 161.ru with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the region. How many people are in traffic jams on the highway is not officially reported.
In the evening of March 30, in the Rostov region, due to heavy snowfall and a blizzard, traffic was blocked in both directions along the M-4 “Don” federal highway. There were multi-kilometer traffic jams on the road – up to 70 kilometers. According to Mash telegram channel, about 600 trucks and thousands of cars were stuck in the traffic jam.
By the morning of March 31, the length of the traffic jam on the “Don” highway was reduced to 30 kilometers, the Ministry of Emergencies reports. Seven mobile and eight stationary heating and feeding stations were deployed on different sections of the route. There are 171 people in them, including 56 children. The authorities promised to organize the delivery of fuel and food for stranded motorists.
The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations sent more than 150 units of equipment to clear the road. In order to evacuate the blocked cars from the highway, the rescuers in some places cut the metal fence on the dividing strip and create “pockets” for cars to pass through. “Send the first trucks in the direction of Moscow,” said the representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
- On the afternoon of March 30, a cyclone hit the Rostov region with heavy precipitation in the form of snow, and strong winds in some places. As a result, traffic on the M-4 “Don” highway was blocked on 76 kilometers of the road; five trains were behind schedule; almost 35 thousand people in eight districts and three cities remained without electricity. A state of emergency was introduced in five municipalities of the region — Shakhty, Belokalitvensky, Kamensky, Krasnosulinsky and Oktyabrsky districts.
