On Wednesday, the Palestinian and Arab mass media reported that as a result of Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip, three sons and several grandsons of Ismail Hania, the leader of the radical group Hamas, recognized as a terrorist in the United States and Europe, were killed. This was confirmed by the press service of the Israeli army and security services.

According to the IDF, Emir Haniya was the squadron commander of the military wing of Hamas. Two of his brothers – Muhammad and Hazem Khaniya – were also officers of the group.

Ismail Khaniya confirmed the news about the death of his sons and grandsons. He called them “martyrs” and added that the blood of his children “is not more expensive than the blood of any of our people.”

He told the media company “Al-Jazeera” that the death of relatives will not force the leadership of Hamas to abandon its plans, including changing its position in relation to negotiations on a truce with Israel.

Chania has 13 children in total. The head of Hamas himself does not live in the Gaza Strip, his main place of residence is Qatar.

  • Israel is carrying out a full-scale military operation in the Gaza Strip in response to the October 7 attack on the south of Israel by the Palestinian group Hamas, recognized as a terrorist in the United States and the European Union. During the jihadist attack, about 1,200 people died, more than 200 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage and taken to Gaza.
  • According to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Ministry of Health, more than 30,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, died as a result of shelling by the Israel Defense Forces. There is no independent confirmation of these data.
