The city of Kyiv and the capital metro plan to purchase 50 through-cars at the end of February, which will be enough for 10 trains.
About this in an interview with TSN told head of the Kyiv Metro Viktor Braginskyi.
Currently, he explains, the city and the Kyiv Metro are carrying out the procedure for the purchase of carriages with the help of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The second stage of the procedure is now to begin, and the auction will take place at the end of February.
“According to our technical conditions, we plan to purchase straight carriages. Few people in the world already use separate carriages, and straight carriages are more spacious and can accommodate more passengers. We plan to get 50 straight carriages – correspondingly, there will be 10 trains,” said Braginsky.
He noted that the metro is also preparing tender documentation for the purchase of new carriages within the framework of the “Kyiv City Electric Transport” project, under which it plans to acquire another 50 through carriages.
“After the winner of the auction is chosen, we plan to receive this equipment in a year, i.e. in 2024,” Braginsky clarified.
