Lawyer Oleksiy and economist Oleksandra decided to open this institution long before the full-scale war. The idea of creating an institution belongs to Oleksandra, who already has experience working with children in large institutions. The driving force behind the idea was the needs of their daughter. After all, there are no such institutions in the neighborhood where they live, and getting to the nearest one is long and inconvenient. The coronavirus pandemic added urgency to the project, because pedestrian accessibility was one of the social trends at the time.
The center should perform a whole range of functions: socialization of children, psychological assistance, physical development. In particular, we are talking about creativity lessons, gymnastics, IT training, modeling on a 3D printer and much more.
“If you wait, “better times” will never come”
The family had already begun detailed calculations of the business project and found a suitable premises when a full-scale war began. It seemed that everything would have to be postponed until better times. Setting up the center requires significant financial costs, and the family budget simply could not afford them. However, the couple decided that “if we wait, the ‘better times’ will never come.”
“If we don’t try to pay attention to the physical, mental and intellectual development of children now, it will lead to the loss of the potential of our children – our future. In particular, due to the lack of such centers, and only online education without socialization and live communication, exchange of ideas, practical classes with teachers, coaches and other children,” Oleksiy believes.
For Oleksiy and Oleksandra, the possibilities of the eRobota program became a pleasant surprise. Grant assistance to businesses during the war is one of the directions of the state policy of stimulating the economy. The eRobota program unites four directions, the most popular of which are the so-called micro-grants. These are payments of up to UAH 250,000 for the creation or development of your own business. In 2022, the state transferred UAH 777 million in micro-grants to businesses, and this year plans to issue UAH 1.8 billion.
The Ukrainian government and our partners have announced that the recovery program of Ukraine will begin this year, and one of the 5 priorities will be the recovery of the economy. Denys Shmyhal says that the Government is expanding assistance programs for small and medium-sized businesses, and eRobota will become one of the key tools in this direction. The Prime Minister also notes that negotiations are currently ongoing on the possible attraction of funds from international partners to finance this grant program.
In order to receive a grant, Oleksia and Oleksandra, as beginners in business, had to take courses doing business in Diya Business. According to Oleksiy, the couple had pleasant impressions from the study.
“Prompt and professional consultations with practical answers to questions and advice. We recommend using them!”, the man said.
Later, they opened a FOP and a bank account at Oschadbank. At first, due to the incorrect distribution of costs in the business plan, they even received a refusal, but they quickly corrected themselves and resubmitted the documents for consideration.
On the verge of opening
At the end of 2022, the expected funds in the amount of UAH 250,000 were received. Materials, furniture, machinery and other equipment were bought for them. The premises on the first floor of the high-rise building were repaired. There is an air raid shelter near the building, which is very important for this type of establishment. There are children’s and sports grounds nearby, and this will allow you to combine creative and physical activity.
In March, the entrepreneurs plan to complete all the work, hire professionals, and in April the Family Leisure Center will open its doors to children and parents. According to the calculations of Oleksiy and Oleksandra Kobtsiv, the project should pay off in 2-3 years.
They positively evaluate their experience of participating in the eRobota program. They believe that it is not easy to get a grant, but it is quite possible.
“We are very grateful to the state for such support! Such projects are extremely important for the socialization and upbringing of children. There should be as many of them as possible. Children are our future, children are the future of our state. If we lose him, then all our efforts in the fight against the enemy will be in vain. Therefore, we must do everything is possible to prevent this,” says Oleksiy.
