Today is the deadline for submitting income declarations

On May 1, 2023, the deadline for submitting a declaration of property status and income for 2022 for citizens who are required to submit it in accordance with Section IV of the Tax Code, and for persons engaged in independent professional activity, expires. The ex-chairman of the Tax Committee, Nina Yuzhanyna, wrote about this in the Telegram channel.

Who had to submit declarations

“The last day for submitting declarations was yesterday, but clause 49.20 of Art. 49 of the Code stipulates that if the last day of the deadline for submitting a tax return falls on a holiday or a holiday, then the last day of the deadline is considered the operational (banking) day following the holiday or holiday,” Yuzhanina wrote.

According to her, this year, our citizens who left Ukraine as a result of the war and received temporary asylum abroad (such as those receiving foreign income in 2022) were also included in the category of those who had to submit a declaration.

Yuzhanina reminded that the Verkhovna Rada introduced amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine, according to which the obligation of citizens to submit an annual declaration will be considered fulfilled if they receive only social benefits/foreign aid in other countries.

“However, since April 17, 2023, the draft law is still pending signature of the President of Ukraine,” she writes. In addition, it is possible to use paragraphs 170.11.2 clause 170.11 of Art. 170 of the Tax Code: if the taxpayer does not have supporting documents regarding the amount of income received by him from foreign sources and the amount of tax paid by him in a foreign jurisdiction, such a taxpayer must submit an application to the controlling authority at his tax address to postpone the deadline for submitting the declaration until December 31 of the year following reporting

How to submit a declaration

The declaration is submitted at the place of the tax address in person or by an authorized person; by mail or by means of electronic communication, in particular through the electronic service “Declaration of property status and income”.
