The authorities of the Donetsk region of Ukraine reported on Sunday evening about two dead and one wounded as a result of shelling over the past day.

In total, according to the data of the regional military administration, there were thirteen shellings. It is not specified which specific settlements were hit. It is reported only that 383 people, including 10 children, were evacuated from the front-line zone. 44 school-age children from Pokrovsk and Avdeev districts have been sent to one of the sanatoriums in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, the report notes.

In the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine, two elderly local residents were injured as a result of two shellings of Gulyaipol from “Grad” MLRS. As Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporozhye Regional Military Administration, reported, the wounded were in the yard of their home at the time of the shelling.

The Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office informed about the wounding of five people during the shelling of Kharkiv. The department published pictures of the consequences of the shelling, noting that they show the destruction of non-residential premises and residential buildings with broken windows. “On April 7, around 11:45, the armed forces of the Russian Federation shelled a residential quarter of the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv. Five civilians were injured. As a result of the strikes, at least 13 high-rise and private houses, educational institutions, cafes, a hostel, a hotel, and cars were damaged,” says the message of the prosecutor’s office.

Earlier, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine published pictures of fire extinguishing after the shelling of Kharkiv on Sunday afternoon.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in his evening address on Sunday called the situation in Kharkiv “very tough”. “The situation in the city is very tough, constant Russian terror, now practically every day – air bombs. We are looking for opportunities to give Kharkiv more protection from the sky – and this is a task for both the military and all diplomats of Ukraine – for everyone who is responsible for international communication who should be in dialogue with partners every day,” Zelensky said.

In recent days, Russia has intensified its attacks on Kharkiv. Russian propaganda is increasingly talking about Kharkiv as one of the targets of the military operation. There was also information about a major attack on this city, but it has not yet been confirmed.

  • Russia is shelling Ukraine daily. The Ministry of Defense of Russia asserts that it strikes only for military purposes. The Russian command does not comment on the death of civilians and the destruction of housing and civil infrastructure.
