In Moscow, a military court sentenced two Russian soldiers, Lieutenant Colonel Anatoly Bondarev and Major Dmitry Dmytrakov, to four years in prison each, finding them guilty of “violating the rules of combat duty to repel a sudden attack on the territory of Russia.”

It is noted that the sentence under the corresponding article of the Criminal Code was handed down for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine. At the same time, both defendants did not retain their officer ranks, and after release, they will be able to return to serve in the army.

The criminal case against Bondarev and Dmytrakov was initiated in the spring of 2022 after a missile attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on an ammunition depot and equipment near the village of Staraya Nelidovka in the Belgorod region. As a result, seven Russian servicemen were killed and more than forty were wounded. In addition, fifteen units of equipment were destroyed, dozens more were damaged. According to the investigation, the total damage amounted to 90 million rubles.

The case of Bondarev and Dmytrakov was considered behind closed doors, but it is known that they did not plead guilty.
