In general, last year the world production of raw steel decreased by 4.2% compared to the indicators of 2021 — from 1.96 billion tons to 1.88 billion tons.

China (1,013 million tons), India (124.7 million tons), Japan (89.2 million tons), the USA (80.7 million tons) and Russia (71.5 million tons) are the leaders among the producing countries.

According to the association, among the top five leaders, only India managed to increase steel production by 5.5% last year. All other countries demonstrated negative dynamics.

Ukraine took 25th place in terms of steel production in 2022, showing the biggest decline of all countries in the rating of 70.7% — from 21.4 million tons in 2021 to 6.3 million tons last year.

Let’s remind

In 2021, Ukrainian metallurgists took 14th place in the rating, and by the end of the year, production volumes increased by 3.6% by 2020.
