Ukraine has fulfilled almost all the requirements of the IMF program: the deadline is today


Ukraine has already fulfilled 4 of the 5 structural beacons provided for in the monitoring program of the International Monetary Fund, which the state undertook to fulfill by the end of January.

This is stated in articles EP.

According to the Ministry of Finance, as of the evening of January 27, Ukraine has fulfilled 2 of the 5 structural beacons provided for in the IMF’s monitoring program. At the same time, according to EP data, 4 out of 5 structural lighthouses are currently completed.

“The program plans one review and implementation of five structural beacons (two of which have already been completed, the rest are at various stages of finalization), as well as the agreed need to achieve quantitative and indicative goals by the end of December 2022 and the end of March 2023. Task , the measures and parameters defined within the program are being implemented,” the EP was informed by the Ministry of Finance.

As NBU Chairman Andriy Pishnyi told the EP, the regulator fulfilled its part of the IMF’s requirements as early as January 26.

“The relevant technical task, in particular the concept of a diagnostic survey of banks and approaches to its implementation, was agreed with the International Monetary Fund and approved by the NBU board on January 26, 2023. So, the structural beacon has been fulfilled,” Pyshnyi explained.

In addition, the government appointed the supervisory board of Naftogaz and approved the draft law on the cancellation of tax benefits from July 1, 2023.

Another structural beacon concerns the approval of the social protection reform, which, according to EP sources in the Ministry of Social Policy, is at the final stage of implementation.

Therefore, out of all the requirements within the monitoring program, the fate of only one structural beacon – the approval of the repayment plan and the prevention of arrears for state expenses – remains unknown.
