The Ukrainian government offered Poland a mechanism for verifying the export of agricultural products in accordance with the decision of the European Commission, which is already working with Romania and Bulgaria.

About this stated Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a joint briefing with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

According to the Ukrainian Prime Minister, the parties discussed many issues of bilateral cooperation, in particular the unimpeded movement of goods across the border. “We believe that the issue has been resolved today. The border is unblocked, and joint work is yielding results,” Shmyhal said.

The Prime Minister also added that the Ukrainian side promised to make maximum efforts not to harm and support Polish farmers and transporters. In addition, Ukraine expects Poland to take steps to lift restrictions on Ukrainian farmers and producers.

“Ukraine has proposed a mechanism for verifying the export of agricultural products in accordance with the decision of the European Commission. This mechanism is already working effectively with Romania and Bulgaria, and we propose to use it in our mutually beneficial relations,” Shmyhal noted.

The Prime Minister also called on the European Commission to continue measures to liberalize trade for Ukraine, as well as to liberalize transportation.

We will remind:

Polish carriers, which have been blocking border crossings with Ukraine since November, reached an agreement with the government on some demands and will suspend his protest.

Poland is being prepared propose changes to the agreement on the so-called transport visa-free agreement between the EU and Ukraine and invites Ukraine to cooperate in this process.
