Ukrainian farmers will receive more than 10 million tons of vegetable seeds from donors

International donors transfer 13.5 tons of vegetable seeds to the de-occupied territories of Ukraine, farmers received the first shipments.

It is noted that these seeds will be given to farmers and residents of the de-occupied territories of Ukraine. These are the seeds of beans, peas, beets, carrots, eggplant, onions and radishes.
The first shipments have already been received by micro-farms and households in four communities of the Poltava, Kyiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. This volume of seeds will ensure the sowing of 1126 hectares of agricultural land.
The All-Ukrainian Association of Communities (VAG) and the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council (VAR) collect information about seed needs, after which they will distribute it according to requests. The logistical support of the project, namely the free delivery of seeds from international donors to the communities, is provided by the USAID AGRO Program.
The program emphasizes the importance of supporting households and small farms, because they provide about a third of the country’s consumer market needs for vegetables and make a significant contribution to ensuring the food needs of communities.
