“Verstka” established the identity of the participant in the torture of the prisoner in colony No. 5

The “Verstka” publication claims to have established the identity of one of the employees of the correctional colony No. 5 in Mordovia, whom human rights activists suspect of torturing the former policeman Evgeny Chistov, who was convicted of treason.

According to mass media, we are talking about Ivan Manushkin, a 31-year-old FSIN employee. Judging by the information on his social networks, he is a native of the village of Leplay, in which IC No. 5 is located. Later, he graduated from the Ryazan Academy of Law and Administration of the FSIN.

“Vyorstka” notes that in April 2020, Manushkin himself was accused in a criminal case of theft with significant damage. According to the investigation materials, he stole 100,000 rubles from the ATM machine, hid them “in the pocket of his uniform”, and then disposed of them “as he saw fit”. According to the court ruling, Manushkin fully admitted his guilt and repented, therefore the judge fined him 20,000 rubles and closed the case.

• The day before, the human rights project “First Department” published a video of the torture of prisoner Yevgeny Chistov in IC No. 5. According to Chistov himself, in May 2021, employees of the Mordovian colony required him to move to another cell, in which a mentally unstable person was sitting, with whom Chistov had a conflict. The convicted person refused to do this, after which they began to beat him. The former policeman also named the FSIN employees who participated in the torture: Vilyakin, Manushkin, Horlanov, and Salikov.
• In November 2015, the Moscow Regional Court sentenced the employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Yevgeny Chistov, to 13 years in a high-security prison, and found him guilty of high treason. According to the case file, the policeman gave the US CIA information about the work of the department in which he served. As the publication “Meduza” wrote, Chistov himself did not hide the fact that he collaborated with the CIA, but said that he was not against Russia, but against the Russian government – and for this he was ready to collaborate “at least with Satan himself.”
