The government will raise the question of replacing the vice-chancellors of higher educational institutions, where there are no patriotic organizations and there are no plans to create them in the near future. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister, plenipotentiary representative of the President in the Far East, Yury Trutnev, at a meeting with students of the Far Eastern Federal University.

According to the vice-premier, a patriotic movement should be organized in every higher educational institution in Russia, in which all students will be involved.

The question of patriotic associations will be, according to him, a “passing exam” at his meeting on July 5 with the vice-chancellors of Far East universities on educational work. “If such an association does not exist and will not be created in the near future, we will look for a second vice-rector,” TASS quotes Trutneva.

Soon after the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the Russian authorities began to make various changes to the education system with the aim of “patriotic education” of students and schoolchildren. Obligatory classroom hours “Talks about important” have been introduced in schools.

In universities, professors were forced to give propaganda lectures, and employees holding anti-war views began to be fired – often due to denunciations by students.

From September 1, the course “Basic Russian Statehood” will be available in all universities. It was prepared at the behest of President Vladimir Putin for “the formation of students’ awareness of belonging to Russian society, the development of a sense of citizenship”, as well as for the education of a person “aware of the peculiarities of the historical path of the Russian state and the identity of its political organization”.
