The “Yandex.Muzyka” platform has restricted access to the “Kavachay” podcast about the war between Russia and Ukraine. This is reported by the edition “Cold”, which produces the project.
Access to the podcast was restricted at the request of Roskomnadzor. Representatives of the platform told “Kholoda” that the department referred to Article 15.3 of the Federal Law “On Information” – it, among other things, states the need to block content that “discredits” the Russian army.
In the “Kavachay” project, Ukrainian journalist Anna Filimonova and “Cold” podcast editor Aleksey Ponomarev discuss events related to the war in Ukraine. The podcast is also distributed in Spotify, Apple and Google Podcasts.
Earlier on Friday, it became known that “Yandex.Muzyka” and the Music Industry Association developed recommendations for music services on working with “dangerous or unpleasant content”. “Yandex.Muzyka” took the recommendations as a basis for the rules for placing content on the service.
Now the content will be checked first with the help of machine learning technologies, and then manually. “The system will also be used to identify content on sensitive topics that may cause discomfort to listeners. Depending on the nature of the content, it may be marked with special signs indicating an age restriction, excluded from recommendations or removed from the service,” the message says “Yandex. Music”.
Copyright holders, whose content is found to be in violation of the rules, can either change the content or challenge the decision.
Representatives of the company told the edition “Novaya gazeta. Evropa” that it is “incorrect” to say about censorship on the service, since “the tracks will not undergo pre-moderation”.
