In Petrozavodsk, a concert by musician Yaroslav Evdokymov was canceled at the “Mashinostroitel” cultural center due to complaints from local residents about his statements about the war in Ukraine. This is reported on the DK page in VKontakte.
Evdokymov’s speech was supposed to take place on May 13. Earlier, the musician’s concerts were canceled in Tomsk, Krasnodar, ticket sales in Sochi were suspended. The cancellations of Evdokimov’s speeches began after his interview from 2019 began to spread, in which Evdokimov criticized the Russian authorities and hostilities in eastern Ukraine.
“I blame the Kremlin for everything. I blame Putin for everything. I blame this whole Kremlin propaganda company. Because Ukrainians will never forgive them for this. Never. They ruined young lives. For what? What, do they need Donbass? They need Crimea ? Russia screwed up the whole world because of this. Why? Does Ukraine want to go to Europe? Let it go. And Russia should live in a European way. Have you seen how they beat up the youth there? Is this a normal country? This is an ugly country, I think. It’s a terrible shame.” – said the musician then.
Yaroslav Evdokimov is a Soviet, Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian singer who became famous thanks to the song “Fantazer”. He was born in 1946 in a prison in the Ukrainian city of Rivne. His mother and father were repressed. Evdokymov was raised by his grandmother and grandfather. He made a singing career in Belarus, became a People’s Artist of this country, and later – an Honored Artist of Russia.
- Earlier in St. Petersburg, the performance of the pianist Polina Osetynskaya was canceled, in Svetlogorsk – the concert of the group “Splin”. In Yaroslavl and Cherepovets, at the request of the prosecutor’s office, concerts of the “Naive” group were canceled.
- Concerts of the St. Petersburg rock group “Night Snipers” were canceled in six cities of Russia. A denunciation was written against the group’s soloist Diana Arbenina because of her anti-war stance.
